University Teaching Hospital (UTH), Women and Newborn located in Lusaka is a 500 bedded tertiary referral hospital for pregnant women and neonates with complications.
It serves Lusaka, surrounding facilities and the country at large.
The Neonatal unit is housed in the Women and Newborn Hospital.

- 3 Paeds nurses
- 3 critical care nurses
- 50 registered nurses
- 2 consultants
- 2-3 registrars
- 4 Senior House Officer
- 2-3 interns
CONSULTANT LED CARE 24/7 (home call outside duty hours)
- The Women and Newborn Hospital conducts at least 15,000 deliveries annually.
- 250 – 300 admission/month
- The Neonatology Unit has a capacity to admit 60 newborns at once but admits 90 to 100 both inborn and outborn wards.
- The Kangaroo Mother Care unit accommodates 26 neonates.
- At least 60% of the neonates are outborn and referred to the unit.
- We encourage family-oriented care and mothers are housed in a shelter and have access to the neonatal unit.
- 16 functional Incubators, Phototherapy devices, including Bilirubinometer
- Multiparameter monitors and Pulse oximeters
- Piped air/oxygen
- Bubble CPAP machine-5 Pumani machines and Hudson disposable prongs and tubings depending on supply
- 5 mechanical ventilators
