The development, evaluation and roll out of ResistanceSim, a digital simulation game for insecticide resistance management. Key target audience is vector control programmes but other stakeholders will benefit from the use of the tool. The game will allow players from multiple disciplines to manage a virtual vector control and entomological surveillance programme. Using a custom built mathematical model, developed by Andy South, and industry standard graphics and game mechanics, players will be taught best practices by exploring the impact of their decisions in the simulation. The game will be packaged with a number of mini games that will test user’s knowledge on standard operating procedures for resistance monitoring.
For the initial test market phase, ETCH has partnered with Abt Associates to include the game as part of their training activities for the Africa IRS (AIRS) project.
