Project Title: A framework to understand pathogen transmission and to evaluate the effectiveness of risk reduction strategies.
Project Summary: Emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases are a global problem. To control the spread of these diseases, it is important to prioritise infection-control strategies. In this project, I will develop a mathematical framework to estimate risks and evaluate risk-reduction strategies. The model will be applied to several pathogens, including SARS-CoV-2, rotavirus, and Mpox virus. The outputs from the model will include estimates of risks, evaluations of risk-reduction strategies, and identification of model parameters that need further research. The information obtained from this study will help to prioritise future research on emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases.
