Seven academic staff have been promoted to professor, recognising Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine’s (LSTM) agenda-setting research in infectious diseases and global health.
Three new readers have also been named in the latest round of academic promotions.
These achievements show the strength and breadth of LSTM’s research and expertise, with individuals recognised in areas from antimicrobial resistance to vector biology, and from health systems to global health education.
LSTM is renowned for its research excellence, ranking second in the UK for impact in REF2021 and listed as one of 21 world-leading specialist education providers by the Office for Students.
The new professors are:
- Professor Tom Fletcher – Department of Clinical Sciences
- Professor Grant Hughes – Department of Vector Biology
- Professor Kondwani Jambo – Department of Clinical Sciences (based at Malawi-Liverpool Wellcome Programme)
- Professor Joanna Raven – Department of International Public Health
- Professor Adam Roberts – Department of Tropical Disease Biology
- Professor Rachel Tolhurst – Department of International Public Health
- Professor Eve Worrall – Department of Clinical Sciences
The new readers are:
- Dr Martha Chinouya - Department of Education
- Dr Marc Henrion – Department of Clinical Sciences (based at Malawi-Liverpool Wellcome Programme)
- Dr Brenda Kwambana - Department of Clinical Sciences (based at Malawi-Liverpool Wellcome Programme)
