Clinical trials can be interventional or observational. Interventional studies can involve medications or vaccines; you would be allocated to the treatment group at random like flipping a coin whereas observational studies can involve samples and questionnaires.
Volunteering to take part in a clinical trial can involve donating blood samples and other respiratory samples. These samples will be used for research purposes and can be stored. All of your identifiable information will be removed; the samples and data stored will be anonymous.
Healthy volunteers are reimbursed for their time and inconvenience as there is no direct health benefit to the volunteer when taking part.
Volunteers with respiratory conditions may have a direct health benefit by taking part therefore the remuneration is dependent on the study.
You are not committed to take part in a clinical trial by enquiring and you are free to withdraw your consent at any time.
