Functional genomics of mosquito genes
Lead: Dr Gareth Lycett
We have developed state of the art tools to examine the in vivo function of genes in the malaria mosquito An. gambiae. These have included the Gal4 UAS system, docking lines for recombination mediated cassette exchange, stable RNA interference and promoters to drive tissue specific gene expression. The major ongoing project involves examining the role of tissue specific expression of several P450 genes in the development of metabolic insecticide resistance phenotypes.
