As members of the Decolonising Education Working Group, we are looking to set up a small Working Group of colleagues and students from across the School to explore how we might approach the Decolonisation of our Communication(s) and use of language.
There will be two aspects to this:
Involves Decolonising the language we use in the development and sharing of knowledge in research or education. How do our different experiences of reality influence the way we communicate knowledge in teaching, learning and research?
Looks at the language we use in communications as a School – how do we refer to global colleagues or non-Liverpool based colleagues and partners, what language can we use that reflects our global context in a way that is not UK-centric, and how can we standardise our approach in a way that reflects our global community?
If you are interested in being involved in these discussions, please contact Martha Chinouya and Sophie Black on decolonising@lstmed.ac.uk
