I obtained my master's degree in Biotechnology from Karnatak University Dharwad, India and moved to University Vienna, Austria to obtain my PhD (Dissertation carried out at University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna. My PhD research elucidated novel molecular and cellular mechanisms facilitating the successful infection of opportunistic ruminant pathogen Mycoplasma agalctiae. Later, I joined the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, USA, as a postdoctoral fellow to study role of gut microbiota and bacterial infection during functional colon motility disorders.
In January 2021, I joined Centre for Drugs and Diagnostics and Centre for NTDs at LSTM to work towards developing new diagnostics tools and therapeutic treatments for human and zoonotic filarial infections. I am working with experts in interdisciplinary areas and international partner organisations to develop novel and affordable anti-Wolbachia curative treatment for filarial infections. I am also part of the multi-disciplinary team to develop an innovative non-invasive diagnostic tool for human lymphatic filariasis.
At present, I am leading the research under UKRI funded program grant to investigate therapeutic potential of bioactive lipids in treatment of filarial immunopathologies (https://gtr.ukri.org/projects?ref=MR%2FX001911%2F1)
