A fundraising campaign launched by the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) has reached a new milestone today and is hurtling towards a £100,000 target.

Bump It Forward campaign aims to encourage donors to give the equivalent cost of their COVID-19 vaccine as it rolls out across the UK, to protect frontline workers in African countries until the vaccine reaches them.

Funds raised will help provide PPE and other essential items to support colleagues and frontline health workers in Malawi, Zimbabwe and Kenya.

Thanks to the generosity of over 1,200 donors the campaign has now raised over £65,000, with over £40,000 distributed so far to protect struggling frontline health workers in African countries with PPE.

Karen Brady, Director of Fundraising at LSTM said; “The response to the Bump It Forward campaign has been amazing.  We cannot thank the public enough for their generous support; it really means a lot to us and even more to the people who will benefit from it.  In less than two weeks we have raised £65,000, which is just incredible.”

LSTM is asking people to consider donating £25, the equivalent cost of the COVID-19 vaccine, toward the appeal to help reach their target. Although any amount given, no matter how big or small will help save lives.
