As a qualified pharmacist with over two decades of experience, Rocio currently holds the position of Senior Lecturer in Health Education within the Faculty of Education. Her career is distinguished by extensive experience in managing and contributing to the capacity building and strengthening of pharmaceutical systems within health programmes across multiple countries, including Zambia, Mozambique, South Sudan, and Afghanistan.
Rocio has a proven track record as a technical expert and programme manager, adeptly coordinating supply chain capacity-building strategies across 13 countries in West and Central Africa under the UK aid-funded Ascend programme at LSTM. She has also served as the Project Manager for the One Health Programme STRESST, further demonstrating her leadership capabilities. For the past 15 years, Rocio has taught various programmes at LSTM, contributing to the educational experience of many healthcare professionals. Throughout her career, she has consistently worked within and led multidisciplinary healthcare teams, firmly believing in the significant benefits of collaborative teamwork. Her consultancy roles with the World Health Organization and Médecins Sans Frontières have highlighted her expertise in developing and implementing critical pharmaceutical management systems.
In her educational roles, Rocio is not only the Director of the online Diploma in Pharmaceutical Systems but also co-leads the Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (DTM&H).Her deep commitment to workforce development is evident as she has designed and delivered impactful courses both face-to-face and online, ensuring comprehensive learning experiences for international healthcare professionals
