Melissa joined the Department of Clinical Sciences in November 2019 as a Research Assistant in Evidence Synthesis. She currently works within the Cochrane Infectious Diseases Group (CIDG) as part of the Research, Evidence and Development Initiative (READ-It).
Her expertise lies in Qualitative Evidence Synthesis (QES) methods, and she has conducted QES reviews on mass drug administration programmes, and active case finding approaches for tuberculosis.
Her PhD explores approaches to further the use and impact of qualitative research in WHO policy and decision-making.
Melissa is also a Senior Research Assistant in the Cultural Evolution in Global Health Research group, exploring how reflexivity statements may encourage people in global health research to think more actively about fairness, including equitable authorship.
Teaching
Previously taught qualitative methodology and application to guideline processes on MSc module TROP937: Systematic reviews for policy and practice. Supported teaching on DTM&H sessions covering systematic review methodology and appraisal.
