The session looked back at the past week of a hugely successful conference at the ACC Conference Centre in Liverpool.
LSTM Director, Professor Lalloo, gave an in-depth summary of the conference’s main themes such as health systems, prevention, treatment & patient care, age related care and One Health – all of them influenced by the rising prominence of non-communicable diseases (NCDs); mental health; climate change and demographic changes.
Professor Lalloo said: “The future of global health has to be multi-disciplinary. There is simultaneously an increased need for multi-sectoral partnerships which are crucial for research and development.”
Chair of the ECTMIH2019 Scientific Committee, Dr Adrian Hopkins, gave an overview of the conference highlights such as the opening plenary discussion with Professors Lalloo and Piot, Directors of LSTM and LSHTM respectively, Snakebite Awareness Day and the networking opportunities the various scientific tracks offered.
RSTMH CEO Tamar Ghosh, host of the conference, concluded by thanking all involved in the organisation of the conference and use the outcomes of the conference to develop and widen scientific network.
The past week saw the 15 members of the Federation of European Societies of Tropical Medicine and International Health (FESTMIH) and associated organisations and institutions present their work, research and results over 6 scientific tracks and numerous side meetings, plenary sessions and workshops.
The 12th ECTMIH will be held in in 2021 in Bergen, Norway.
