I am a public-health engineer with 30 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, and recently completed a masters in applied anthropology. For the past 20 years I have worked as an independent consultant with three main areas of activity: 1) training in the areas of environmental health in emergencies, project management, leadership and coordination, and anthropology 2) supporting humanitarian interventions by doing project evaluations, operational research and technical advice 3) developing guidelines and standards for humanitarian and development interventions in the water-supply, sanitation and hygiene-promotion sector. My areas of interest include development anthropology, environmental health, water and sanitation governance, humanitarian leadership, research methods in humanitarian interventions, social mobilisation and behaviour change. I have collaborated on publications for WHO, UNICEF, Oxfam, ACF, the Red Cross / Red Crescent and inter-agency platforms in the humanitarian sector.
