LSTM Seminar: 'Eave Tubes - From Innovation to Implementation'

A seminar by Dr Jackie Cook, Assistant Professor of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine

Eave Tubes are a novel malaria vector control intervention which are currently being trialled in a large study in central Cote d’Ivoire. Malaria vectors often enter households through the eaves, gaps between the top of the wall and the roof. The Eave Tube intervention involves screening of households, along with placement of PVC tubes with insecticide treated inserts at eave level. The technology was previously tested at small scale in Tanzania, as well as in experimental hut studies with promising results. This seminar will cover the idea behind the technology and discuss the current ongoing trial and future plans.

Jackie Cook is an Assistant Professor at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Her work involves evaluation of malaria vector control trials as well as optimising malaria surveillance techniques, particularly in low endemicity areas.
