PhD student
I am Kenyan. I have 8 years’ professional experience in health research, spanning research ethics, health systems and reproductive health. I gained these experiences working in KEMRI-Wellcome Trust Research Programme and the African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC). I hold an MSc Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, generously supported by the Commonwealth Scholarship Scheme. I have a BSc Environmental Health Sciences degree from Moi University (Kenya).
My proposed PhD project: Improving referral uptake and tracking for lung disease and TB, and would be supervised by Dr. Miriam Taegtmeyer.
Other interests include: effective use of research evidence to support reform of health systems in Sub-Saharan Africa to universal health coverage; strategic use of health policy research, as a tool for driving meaningful, sustainable change in health services delivery and diffusion of mutual accountability culture between providers and consumers of healthcare services.
