Dr Nick Beeching, Senior Lecturer at LSTM and honorary consultant at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, has co-authored the BMJ Best Practice Series on Ebola virus infection. Together with Manuel Fenech, a Specialist Registrar in Infectious Diseases at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital and Catherine Houlihan, clinical research fellow at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Dr Beeching published a full monograph on diagnosis and management of the Ebola virus.

Dr Beeching said ‘The Best Practice series provides a marvellous platform for a comprehensive interactive reference for clinicians interested in all aspects of the presentation, diagnosis and management of people with Ebola virus disease. It will incorporate amendments suggested by colleagues in the field as our experience of Ebola virus evolves. We hope it will provide a useful tool and actively encourage interested parties to provide feedback and suggestions for further updates.’
Dr Beeching, together with LSTM’s Wellcome Training Fellow and Lecturer Tom Fletcher and University of Toronto’s associate professor of Medicine Robert Fowler, also wrote a second short review on understanding organ dysfunction in Ebola virus disease, which has just been published by Springer Science Media as part of a series in the journalIntensive Care Medicine and is freely accessible.
