The Liverpool TB Research Group will have its monthly meeting
Dr Ian Page from the University of Machester & Special Registrar in Infectious Diseases will hold a talk on 'Long term respiratory sequelae of pulmonary TB including the hidden burden of chronic pulmonary aspergillosis.
Dr Page recently completed a PhD on 'Chronic pulmonary aspergillosis (CPA) in association with pulmonary TB and HIV in Uganda' at the UK National Aspergillosis Centre at University Hospital South Manchester with field work in Gulu, Uganda.
CPA is a complication of TB that has a 5 year mortality of 50-85% but the prevalence of CPA secondary to TB has never been measured. Dr Page will provide a summary of exisiting evidence on the link between TB and CPA and then present results from his PhD research.
