The module forms part of our Diploma in Pharmaceutical SystemsOverview Analyse the key components of each phase of the Pharmaceutical Supply Cycle (PSC) and how the phases are linked to each other. The online learning module provides an opportunity for reflection and continuing professional development through interactive learning with subject specialists and peers. The PSC is a key component of the pharmaceutical system, and operates like a wheel, where each component of the management support system is essential to making movement through the cycle possible. Subsequently, if one of the management support systems does not function the wheel does not turn, and the cycle is disrupted. Effective management makes a crucial difference in all aspects of the pharmaceutical system. You will analyse key areas within each phase of the cycle – selection, procurement, storage, distribution, and usage and you will be encouraged to apply the concepts to a case study. Taking a student-centred and problem-solving approach to facilitate learning, core information will be presented through online channels including recorded podcasts, lectures, online learning materials, threaded discussion boards, collaborative work, chat rooms and this will be enhanced with case studies, career podcasts, online QA sessions and group discussions. LSTM and Quamed have set up a collaboration for the learning units related to quality of medicines (storage and distribution). The module is assessed through a written assignment of 2,000 words. In this assignment, you will identify and assess deficiencies within a pharmaceutical supply system using a case study. You will then justify your choice of one specific area and develop a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to address the identified deficiency. There are two ways to complete this module: 1) As a stand alone CPD module where you do not have to undertake an assessment and will be awarded a Certificate of Attendance on completion. 2) As part of the full Diploma in Pharmaceutical Systems where you do have to undertake the assessment for each module and will be awarded the Diploma in Pharmaceutical Systems on successful completion. Pharmacovigilance systems Entrance RequirementsAcademic requirements: Qualified health care professionals; including pharmacist, doctors, nurses or health managers with proven experience of more than 1-2 years in the pharmacy field.Work experience: Pharmacists, doctors, nurses, and health professionals with a minimum 1-2 years of demonstrated experience in pharmacy, either within national health programmes or in a related area such as pharmacy, hospitals, health centres, senior management roles, or industry.English language requirements: The programme is taught in English. Students whose first language is not English must normally provide evidence of an IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score of at least 6.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in all learning components, or a TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) score of at least 88 for the Internet-based Test (iBT), with minimum scores of 21 for Listening and Writing, 22 for Reading and 23 for Speaking. Tests should be within their validity period of 2 years.
