Mr Ambayo Peter Otte Nyumbe (Msc, ICHD/MPH), an offsite PhD Candidate in Global Health (Yr-2), is a scholar at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and the principal investigator for a study in health financing entitled "Impact of Financing the Essential Health Services Package on Coverage of Maternal and Newborn Health Services and how it prevents families from catastrophic out-of-pocket expenditure in Juba County, Central Equatoria State in South Sudan". I work for UNICEF South Sudan as a health Officer supporting the three states of the greater equatoria region of south sudan: Central Equatoria, Eastern Equatoria and Western Equatoria. I hold a master’s degree in an International Course in Health Development (ICHD) from the Royal Tropical Institute in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, A Master of Science in Public Health (Msc. MPH) from International Health Sciences University, Uganda, and a Bachelor of Health Administration from Uganda Christian University, Mukono, Uganda and Higher Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology of Makerere, University, Kampala Uganda.
I have hugh experience in Primary healthcare, Health Governance, and Health Financing, especially Public Finance for Children and Management. I am the Deputy Chair of the Eastern Equatoria State Development Planning Committee. I represent UNICEF as an observer in Eastern Equatoria state's County transfer monitoring Committee. I have over 11 years of experience and skills in programme management, both in the Emergency and Development context. Specifically in Health (Immunization, Maternal, Newborn and Child Health), Nutrition and WASH programming in emergency and development contexts. I have also developed a keen interest in research in strengthening health systems, especially services delivery, health financing, governance, and leadership. Before joining UNICEF, I worked with different organisations in different capacities, from FHI360, CAFOD, CRS and Merlin. Over the years, I gained considerable experience in programme design, planning, implementing, monitoring, evaluating, and reporting.
