Respiratory infections in paediatric risk groups from a global health perspective

Dr Lilly Verhagen has studied global pediatric risk groups experiencing high rates of respiratory infections, with a focus on mucosal immunity and vaccines. For her research projects, she lived and worked in several places, including a 3.5 year period in Venezuela. She currently works as a paediatric resident in Utrecht, The Netherlands, where she obtained several fellowships to combine her residency with postdoctoral research projects studying the mucosal immune system in children with a high burden of respiratory tract infections.
