Students from LSTM’s Certificate in International Health Consultancy have presented their findings to Merseyside and Ugandan public and third sector organisations.  This is an integral part of the course designed to develop their consultancy skills.

Over three weeks the 16 mid to senior level health professionals from the UK, North America, Asia, the Middle East and Africa have bid for, designed and delivered a team consultancy. The course is taught by a range of from LSTM, the Department for International Development (DFID), and other internationally renowned institutions, develops the skills needed to provide evidence-based consultancy in global health settings.

Director of Studies, LSTM’s Dr Vicki Doyle said: “These team consultancies form part of the formal assessment for students and it has been fantastic to see them all working hard and collaboratively with fellow team members and their clients to deliver some very interesting work that will be used by local agencies. The course mirrors the reality of working as an international health consultant so it is vital that we focus on team as well as individual working. It is an intense three weeks, but I think that the students recognise the real value of all their hard work and enjoy the opportunity of networking with their fellow students as well as those already established in the field.”

Merseyside based clients taking part in the exercise are Sahir House, Health Equities Group and Sanyu Research Unit as well as Safri, Uganda. You can read more about this and other courses on LSTM’s website here
