LSTM’s Chair in Health Economics, Professor Niessen will be speaking at the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene’s (ASTMH) 64th annual meeting, which begins this weekend in Philadelphia.

Invited to talk by President’s Malaria Initiative, Professor Niessen’s presentation is entitled: “Malaria Economics and Country Health Programming”  and will draw from his research findings on malaria intervention packages, new vaccines, child survival interventions, and other global investment studies.

The session is organized by PATH – Abt Associates and involves all relevant stakeholders. It aims to arrive at the formulation of new strategies to provide better and more relevant economic evidence in support of country-level implementation of malaria control strategies.  Presently, LSTM is working together with the Kenya Medical Research Institute and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on the health-related socio-economic inequalities.
