Dr Grace Kariuki was the lung health representative of the Kenyan Ministry of Health at the launch of ‘Tupumue’, a partnership on non-communicable diseases between LSTM and the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), earlier this year in Nairobi.
Dr Kariuki was also to be a beneficiary of one of the PATS MECOR studentships funded through Tupumue.
In a reaction LSTM’s Principal Investigator for Tupumue, Professor Kevin Mortimer, said “We were looking forward to working with Dr Kariuki and supporting her career as a rising star in her field. It is devastating to learn and hard to believe that this is now not to be. May she rest in peace.”
LSTM wishes to send heartfelt condolences to the Kenyan Ministry of Health.
