LSTM has started offering free guided tours to small groups on a monthly basis, with diverse groups such as Network 55, University of the Third Age and local history groups visiting to date. This week, tours are now available to book online using Eventbrite.

The three-hour tour, for up to 15 visitors, takes place on the first Tuesday of every month and has so far included various clubs and associations. Visitors are able to look through some of LSTM’s archives, learning more about our pioneers and specialists such as LSTM's first lecturer and Noble Prize recipient Sir Ronald Ross, Mary Kingsley and LSTM's first female lecturer Dr Alwyn Evans, as well as meeting researchers working to address some of the biggest problems in global health today. Visitors are given an insight into our current research including the Centre for Snake Bite Research and Interventions and the Centre for Maternal and Newborn Health, and the Departments of Vector Biology and Tropical Disease Biology. Feedback from visitors has been very positive, with visitors not realising the breadth of our work in training in low and middle-income settings and in education.

Tours are open to a maximum of 15 people and all visitors must be aged 16 years or older and are fully booked until January 2020. Booking forms for February, March and April and further information on the tours are now available here.
