LSTM’s Finance Director, Duncan Preston, has been named Finance Director of the Year 2018 for the region at an awards ceremony held recently at the Hilton Hotel in Liverpool.
The awards, now in their eighth year, celebrate the achievements of leading individuals and businesses within the Liverpool City Region, Cheshire and North Wales. Duncan, originally a finalist in the Not for Profit category, went on to win the overall Liverpool City Region Award. He said: “I am absolutely delighted to have been recognised in such a way, particularly given the quality of my fellow finalists and from a long list of over 300 candidates. I would like to give credit to my team at LSTM, who work tirelessly to help the institution fulfil its mission to reduce sickness and mortality in disease endemic countries – this award reflects all of their hard work too.”
Sponsored by HSBC Commercial Banking, Accountable Recruitment Ltd, Hill Dickinson LLP and Grant Thornton LLP, all of whom are represented on the judging panel, the awards represent those individuals who can operate not only for the benefit of their own businesses but also for the regional economy as a whole. The judges felt that the shortlist this year exhibited outstanding talent, highlighting not only the quality of the Finance Directors but also the strengths of the businesses in the region.
More than 250 people attended the event, which was hosted by BBC Radio 5 Live’s Hugh Ferris, and included an inspirational speech from Andy Grant, a former Royal Marine, who overcame losing a leg in Afghanistan to become the World’s fastest single leg amputee over 10KM.
