The Centre for Maternal and Newborn Health, previously known as the MNHU, will be hosting two pre congress workshops and a symposium at the 1st FIGO Africa Regional Conference of Gynaecology and Obstetrics on the 2nd – 5th October 2013 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The two pre congress workshops will take place on Wednesday 2nd October and are an Introduction to the Emergency Obstetric Care & Newborn Care training and Quality Improvement, workshops that the Centre for Maternal and Newborn Health (CMNH) currently deliver in countries across Asia and sub Saharan Africa. The workshops have generated a lot of interest among those attending the conference from around the world and nearly 50 people registered to take part.
The CMNH is also hosting a symposium on Saturday 5th October at the conference and presenting information about the variety of different research the unit conducts, including; Maternal Morbidity, Skilled Birth Attendance, the Making it Happen programme and Quality of Care. Representing the CMNH will be a selection of senior lecturers from the UK alongside some of the in country technical leads. Professor Nynke van den Broek, head of the CMNH, will be chairing a key note lecture on Thursday 3rd October.
