Thoughts on the MSc Global Health

I am a part of the technical team working on a programme to improve the quality of RMNCAH services in a consortium of 9 NGOs. I specifically work in the consortium coordinating unit and I ensure continuous quality improvement of the interventions being delivered by our partners to the Health Management Teams in Sierra Leone. I do this by ensuring that scientific evidence, data, is used to deliver programming. This involves delivering training, facilitating workshops, reviewing documents and technical oversight of a health care worker clinical mentorship programme amongst others.

I enrolled into the Global Health MSc programme as recommendation from my long term friend, an Alumni of LSTM since I was looking to sharpen my skills and increase my relevance and contribution to the health sector. We ended up enrolling in the same course with my friend.

Since I am working and also a mother I specifically sought for a course that would allow me to juggle all my responsibilities at once and the online programme fit perfectly to what I was looking for. I also did not have to worry about travel and visa issues to access the course since the course is 100% online with no travel to Liverpool required.

The ability to work at my own schedule was most enjoyable. I also enjoyed the various platforms that the course uses which included interactions on Brightspace, MS Teams and the interaction with tutors etc. This course gave me an opportunity to interact, learn and share experiences from my diverse classmates who came from diverse backgrounds and different countries. I have since been able to apply the learnings from the course directly into my professional work and will continue to do so in the future.

I feel more confident delivering high quality health interventions owing to the high quality and rich content I have got from the MSc Global Health course.
