Dr Ajijur Rahman

Post-Doctoral Research Associate

Dr. Rahman obtained his Bachelor of Pharmacy and Master of Pharmacy degrees from the University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh, followed by a PhD in Microbial Diseases from University College London (UCL) in 2017.

His PhD was funded by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK and focused on AMR and mobile genetic elements in human oral metagenomes. After his PhD he returned to the University of Rajshahi as an Assistant Professor and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2018 and served there until joining Dr. Adam Roberts’s group at LSTM as Post-Doctoral Research Associate in January 2022.

As a Post-Doctoral Research Associate here at LSTM, he is working on a project aimed at screening metagenomes for resistance to new antimicrobial molecules funded by the LSTM Institutional Wellcome Trust Award.
