Chris Williams

Research Technician

I completed my MSc at LSTM in the Biology and Control of Parasites and Disease Vectors in 2012 and have worked as a research technician here since. I worked for Dr Mark Paine 2013-2015 on the development of an Insecticide Quantification Kit (IQK) for DDT in India, as well as HPLC analysis of insecticide-treated materials including indoor residual spray (IRS) samples and bed nets, and immunodiagnostics for insecticide resistance in Anopheles mosquitoes.

As of 2015 I have worked for Dr Emily Adams in the Research Centre for Drugs and Diagnostics. My initial work involved protein biomarker discovery for cutaneous leishmaniasis in patients from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Bolivia, as well as molecular analysis of these samples. I currently work on molecular diagnostics for antimicrobial resistance in UK and Malawi, as well as arboviruses including dengue, chikungunya and zika.
