Cathy is the Programme Administrator for the Tsetse project team at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. Mainly working on The Bill and Melinda Gates funded projects with the aim to eliminate Human African trypanosomiasis (HAT), otherwise known as sleeping sickness in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), this a life-threatening disease that afflicts poor rural populations and is carried by tsetse flies, the disease has long been a curse for communities in West, Central and East Africa, where two different variants of the disease were rife. Cathy has had a varied career working in sales and administrative roles in the private sector, Local Authorities, Universities and Colleges. As a mature student Cathy undertook a Business Studies Management degree whilst working part time.
Prior to undertaking this role in LSTM Cathy has worked for over 4 years in LSTM as a Departmental Secretary in the Department of Tropical Disease Biology supporting a team of up to 100 staff and students.
