Global Leaders and Hubs
LSTM has a presence and partnerships in more than 70 countries. We have seen first-hand the impact that long-term investment in scientific research can have on population health outcomes.
Recruiting high quality candidates into key leadership roles can build capacity within partner institutions, which in turn drives up the quality of their research and creates new opportunities for early career researchers and fellowships. An investment in these critical leaders will pay back in impact many times over.
We will therefore establish a Global Leaders’ programme, with new research leadership positions at five key African hubs initially; in Malawi, Kenya, Cameroon, Zimbabwe and Tanzania. They will become part of a powerful global network, pushing the boundaries of research across countries and disciplines.
These prestigious roles will play a key role in driving a fundamental culture shift for LSTM; from a UK organisation operating overseas, to a truly global organisation, with partnerships and equity at its heart, which happens to be headquartered in Liverpool.
