MSc Tropical Paediatrics (Thomas Mark Scholarship)
I grew up as the eldest of five children in a Nigerian family, daughter of a hydrogeological engineer and cardiac nurse. As the eldest daughter, I was a pace-setter to my siblings in moral and academic excellence. I am married with three beautiful daughters.
My early education was at The First Foundation Nursery and Primary School, Ile-Ife, Osun-state. My interest in biological sciences developed during my secondary education at Federal Government Girls College, Omu-Aran, Kwara-state, Nigeria . My outstanding performance (best graduating student) paved way for admission into the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University to study medicine and surgery in 2003. Upon completion of my undergraduate training in 2010, I did a year medical internship at the Federal Medical center, Ebute-metta, Lagos . Following which, I completed a year service to Nigeria under the National Youth Corps service. My passion and desire to improve the quality of care provided for the Nigerian Children motivated me to commence a residency training programme at the prestigious Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba, Lagos in April 2014. I was awarded a fellowship certificate by the West African College of Physicians (FWACP(Paed) in the year 2021 after completing my residency. In the same year, I was appointed a consultant Paediatrician at the Federal Medical Center, Ebute-metta, Lagos. My interests are in infectious diseases, neonatology and paediatric haematology.

Why is it important for organisation like LSTM to offer scholarships?
It is important for LSTM to offer scholarships to enable smart students from developing countries have a different perspective to learning, to produce more global health leaders, to identify scholars that can propel the mission and vision of LSTM forward and most importantly to improve the health of the population in the developing countries.
I have learnt a lot from the faculty in the last three weeks that I have joined LSTM. I believe if more healthcare professionals from developing countries are given similar opportunities, the health of the developing nation will improve thereby impacting overall health statistics.
