Start4All

Start4All is a four-year, US$15m Unitaid funded project focused on global improvement of TB screening, diagnosis, and treatment. Through identification and evaluation of existing and novel combination diagnostic test packages, with a range of patient populations in various healthcare settings, Start4All is committed to increasing access to timely detection of TB and linkage into quality care and treatment for all.

Partnering with experts from the following esteemed institutions, the S4A project team will lead on improving the outcomes of people affected by tuberculosis:

Centre for Disease Control & Prevention (Kenya)

For over 75 years, the US Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has used its scientific expertise to help people throughout the world live healthier, safer, longer lives.  CDC operates an integrated research centre conducting critical science research, which continues to facilitate the strengthening of Kenya’s public health and laboratory systems. 

CHPR - The Centre for Health Promotion and Research (Cameroon)

CHPR, also known as The TB Reference Laboratory Bamenda (TRLB) is a private non-profit organisation based in Cameroon with notable expertise in TB Diagnostics and a commitment to improving access to care for people with TB in Cameroon by engaging healthcare workers and strengthening TB treatment coverage at all levels of the healthcare system.

FIT – Friends for International TB Relief (Vietnam)

FIT and partners are working to pilot, evaluate and scale comprehensive, patient-centred TB prevention and care programs aimed at stopping TB transmission, saving lives and reducing suffering. Working in partnership with Government and partners to build sustainable solutions to end TB.

 FUS – Federal University of Sergipe (Brazil)

Federal University of Sergipe is a Brazilian public institution of higher education with a long-stablished commitment to excellence in teaching and research, as well as diverse extension related activities in local communities. 

ICDDR,B – International Centre for Diarrheal Disease Research, Bangladesh (Dhaka, Bangladesh)

ICDDR,B is an international health research organisation located DhakaBangladesh. JHF - Janna Health Foundation (Nigeria)

Janna Health Foundation (JHF) is a registered Non-Governmental Organization in Nigeria that focuses on building sustainable development through providing access to medical services and information while improving communities’ livelihood. KEMRI – Kenya Medical Research Institute (Kenya)

KEMRI is a state corporation established in Kenya. This leading Centre of Excellence in health research both in Africa as well as globally, has a mission to improve human health & quality of life through research, capacity building, innovation and service delivery. 

MLW – Malawi Liverpool Wellcome Programme (Malawi)

MLW was established in 1995 and became a Wellcome Trust Major Overseas Programme in 2003. The MLW Programme is a longstanding partnership between the College of Medicine, the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) and the University of Liverpool (UoL), and is core-funded by the Wellcome Trust.  MLW has an outstanding translational research portfolio that links a state-of-the–art laboratory research base to strong hospital and community-based research teams. ZRC – Zankli Research Centre (Nigeria)

Zankli Research Centre is a world-class centre for research and service in tropical diseases. It hosts well-furnished tuberculosis (TB) research laboratory with state-of-the-art equipment, and its goal is to continue evolving as a centre of excellence in research.
