Kaiser Rejve, the Director of Humanitarian & Climate Action Program at CARE Bangladesh. His academic foundation in humanitarian assistance began with the Diploma in Humanitarian Assistance (DHA) program at Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine.
Graduating in 2010, Kaiser chose LSTM for its "global reputation and commitment to bridging theory and practice". The DHA program, a professional diploma, provided a comprehensive blend of theoretical knowledge and practical insights into the humanitarian ecosystem. Kaiser emphasises the networking opportunities that the program offered, connecting him with knowledgeable professionals and peers from around the world. This global interaction facilitated peer learning and enriched his educational experience.
The DHA courses not only deepened Kaiser's understanding of humanitarian principles but also opened doors for deployment to conflict-affected areas. His deployment to regions facing crises, such as the refugee crisis in South Sudan and Yemen, showcased the practical applicability of his LSTM education.
Reflecting on his time at LSTM, Kaiser fondly remembers interactive discussions, case study-based learning, and the mentorship provided by experienced professors. The program not only enhanced his skills and confidence but also reshaped his personal goals. Before completing the course, he had limited exposure to different conflict-driven humanitarian contexts, and the DHA equipped him with the understanding and confidence needed to engage in refugee responses in remote, conflict-affected regions.
Addressing prospective students, Kaiser advises them to embrace the interactive learning environment, peer collaboration, and networking opportunities provided by LSTM. He describes the experience as world-class and high-quality, encouraging new students to seize the opportunities for discussion, case study learning, coaching, and mentoring.
In his current role as the Director of Humanitarian & Climate Action Program at CARE Bangladesh, Kaiser leads a team managing a large Rohingya refugee response program. His responsibilities also extend to contributing to system-level changes in the localisation of humanitarian programs and designing and implementing innovative Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and climate action initiatives. Kaiser's influence extends to policy-level changes in DRR and climate change areas, marking a successful and impactful career journey shaped by his education at LSTM.
