Academic credentials: Ph.D. in Public Health, MPhil in Applied Epidemiology and Disease Control (FELTP) and Master of Public Health from the University of Ghana, Legon; Post Graduate Diploma in Genito-Urinary Medicine (GUM) from the University of Liverpool; Certificate in Applied Epidemiology from Emory Rollins School of Public Health, Atlanta USA; Certificate in Ergonomics from University of Osaka, Japan and MD from the Rostov State Medical School, Russia.

Current position: Senior Public Health Specialist, Physician Epidemiologist and Fellow of Ghana College of Physicians (Public Health Faculty) [FGCP (PH)

I am a goal-driven, outcome-oriented public health physician and medical epidemiologist with broad-based field and academic public health background and a knack to make things happen.

I have excellent working knowledge and skills in public health practice, program management, research and clinical practice; highly proficient in statistics with computing and use of English, Russian and Ghanaian language (Twi) both written and oral. Highly interested in the management, prevention and control, and epidemiology of infectious/communicable diseases, non-communicable disease control, reproductive and child health, nutrition, health promotion, occupational health, ergonomics and other fields in public health and have special interest in field epidemiology and laboratory training programme. I am a reviewer of the Journal of Interventional Epidemiology and Public Health (International Peer Review Journal).

Over 24 years of combined experience providing teaching/training/mentoring in epidemiology and other public health subject areas to medical students, community health officers, nurses, FELTP trainees, resident doctors, fellows, practicing physicians, veterinarians and other healthcare workers including development, design, implementation, supervision and mentoring of field work and large epidemiological research projects mainly on infectious diseases such as vaccine preventable diseases (VPDs), HIV/AIDS, malaria, emerging infections, zoonoses, neglected tropical diseases etc.  in the Ghana Health Service, Pakistan, Nigeria and Sierra Leone.

Having worked in many districts and regions in Ghana as a Public Health Specialist for the past 18 years I have gathered much experience in public health and disease control program management and coordination; providing technical expertise, leadership, partnership/funding solicitation and advice for systems and workforce capacity development, program planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation; including immunization programs, disease eradication/elimination programs, AIDS control program, Applied epidemiology training programs and disease surveillance and response systems. I have well developed field epidemiology skills such as the development, use and evaluation of surveillance systems, strategic planning, outbreak investigation and public health emergency response including Ebola outbreak.

Throughout my working life I have been involved in health services/outcomes research and healthcare quality evaluation and improvement programmes: collecting, abstracting, extracting, collating and analyzing administrative, quality of life, healthcare utilization and clinical data, compute process and outcomes measures using MS Excel, Epi Info, STATA and clinical decision-support/outcomes prediction systems to compare with standard or evidence-based quality indicators, coordinating clinical best practice initiatives resulting in management reports and peer reviewed presentations/publications.
