Black Mamba Venom ‘Better Painkiller’ than Morphine

Listen to the BBC radio interview given by Dr Rob Harrison, Head of the Alistair Reid Venom Research Unit at LSTM, where he comments on the findings of a study published in Nature, by scientists at the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology near Nice.

This study suggests that a painkiller as powerful as morphine, but without most of the side-effects, has been found in the deadly venom of the black mamba.
