Research Integrity in Practice at LSTM

LSTM has several initiatives in place to engage staff and students on the wide topic of research integrity & good research conduct.

Research Integrity Champions

LSTM has had Research Integrity Champions in place since 2023. Their role is to provide an informal route for staff and students to seek advice on good practice or raise concerns about research integrity. Champions can support queries across the research lifecycle, including grant applications, conflicts of interest, ethics, data management, publication, partnerships, and student supervision.

The Research Integrity Champions network includes representatives from across the global hubs. The group meets monthly to share updates in research integrity, exchange learning from queries received, and strengthen the Champions’ role across all sites.

Research Integrity Assurance Group

The Research Integrity Assurance Group, established in 2021, holds LSTM accountable for delivering the Concordat to Support Research Integrity and implementing our 2025–28 Research Integrity Strategy. It conducts benchmarking and engages with UKCORI key indicators, promotes a positive research integrity culture across LSTM and the Hubs, provides a route for escalating grassroots concerns, and supports the ongoing development of the Research Integrity Champions initiative

Research Integrity Training & Workshops

LSTM provides online modules via our Learning & Development platform. All researchers are required to complete a minimum standard of online training.

Additionally, a minimum of 4 workshops covering aspects of research integrity are held annually. Workshops are in person and online.
