Course overview
This course is ideal for people who are looking for a rapid update on tuberculosis (TB) and TB control. It runs over a week, with no teaching on Wednesday, allowing time for reading, analysis of group work and reflection. The course is part of the three-month course for the Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, so the orientation is towards practice in developing countries; however the principles are applicable to high income settings as well.
The course covers the essentials of TB epidemiology, clinical diagnosis and management and public health control of TB. It is current with biannual updates reflecting the latest developments in approaches, strategies, diagnostics, and treatments. Students will have the unique opportunity to learn directly from leading TB experts while working through a diverse range of scenario-based clinical cases that bring theory into practice.
