Dr Yueci Wu

Biography

Yueci Wu obtained her bachelorโ€™s degree in applied chemistry from Shanghai University, where she initiated a career in organic synthesis. Subsequently, in 2019, she completed an MSc in Drug Discovery at the University of Bath. Building on this foundation, Yueci pursued a PhD focusing on the discovery of novel fluorescent probes for peroxynitrite detection under the supervision of Professor Tony James at the University of Bath, culminating in 2023. Following her doctoral studies, she served as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate in Professor Simon Lewisโ€™s research group at the University of Bath, with a focus on developing innovative fluorescent probes for nitrous oxide detection.ย

From May 2024, Yueci became part of LSTM’s Insecticide Resistance Prediction Platform (IRPP) project funded by BMGF under the guidance of Dr. Hanafy M. Ismail. Presently, her research revolves around advancing the development of chemical probes and protein degraders to delve deeper into uncovering insecticide resistance in malaria vectors. Furthermore, Yueci is interested in exploring the pharmacokinetics of insecticides in mosquitoes to better understand their efficacy and mechanisms of action.ย

Research interests

Yueciโ€™s main areas of research are in chemical sensors/fluorescent probes for ROS (Reactive Oxygen Species) detection, and photoaffinity labellingย
