Biography

Since completing a BSc in Zoology, Rowan Jones-Brown has held the role of Research Technician at Liverpool Insectary Testing Establishment at Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine since 2021. She has contributed to various research projects to evaluate the efficacy and durability of mosquito control products in accordance with Good Laboratory Practice. Her role also involves management of rearing multiple susceptible and resistant colonies of mosquitoes.

During a secondment with Innovation to Impact, she acted as the technical support on the development of a host free tunnel test.

Research interests

Rowan’s main research interests are optimising and validating a host-free tunnel test as a more affordable and ethical tool for the evaluation of insecticide treated nets (with a focus on chlorfynapyr), the use of Peet Grady Chambers for transfluthrin spatial repellency, and evaluation of active ingredients and insecticide-treated bed-nets and other surfaces.
