Research interests

Dr Viswanadh Raviteja Gudivada is an RF and electromagnetics scientist with over 10 years of experience in antenna design, RF systems, electromagnetics, wireless sensing, and microwave technologies. He completed his PhD in Electrical Engineering and Electronics at the University of Liverpool, UK, in 2025, followed by postdoctoral research at Loughborough University (2025) and the University of Liverpool (2026), focusing on liquid antennas, RFID, and GNSS-related RF systems. Before his doctoral studies, he worked as an Assistant Professor of Electronics and Communication Engineering in India (2016–2021).

Since joining iiCON at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) in April 2026, he has been developing advanced microwave sensing systems for next-generation healthcare diagnostics and monitoring.

Dr Gudivada is widely known for his research in liquid antennas. His research has delivered several first’s and novel demonstrations in liquid antenna technology, including passive beamforming towards the ground and sky using gravity-driven mechanisms, improved MIMO diversity with six pattern and polarization independent modes of the TM and HEM mode families of the cylindrical DRA, and higher-order mode suppression in a hybrid liquid antenna design, all leveraging the fluidic behaviour of the liquids. These innovations have potential applications in wireless communications, satellite navigation, and airborne beam-stabilization systems.

Dr Gudivada has published more than 32 first-author research articles, contributed 3 book chapters, and filed 3 patents relating to RF technologies. He serves as a reviewer for leading journals, including IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters, and IEEE Open Journal of Antennas and Propagation. His recognitions include a fully funded University of Liverpool research scholarship (2021), the Young Scientist Award (2020), and the Young Researcher Award (2019).

He is endorsed by the Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng) under the UK Global Talent route and continues to work at the intersection of RF engineering, sensing, and applied healthcare technology.
