Mr Hisham Tariq

Research interests

Hisham’s research focuses on climate adaptation, disaster resilience and health in urban communities facing multiple, interconnected risks. At LSTM, he works on Urban TRACS, exploring how residents, researchers and decision makers can develop more equitable responses to flooding, extreme heat and other climate hazards in informal settlements.

He uses participatory action research, systems thinking, system dynamics, evidence synthesis and mixed methods to examine how interventions work in different contexts, whose needs they address, and where unintended consequences may arise. He is particularly interested in bringing community knowledge into research and decision making, and in using serious games and other participatory tools to support learning, preparedness and collaboration. His work aims to produce evidence that is useful to communities, practitioners and policymakers.
