Dr Caroline Jeffery

Biography
Caroline Jeffery is a biostatistician whose research focuses on epidemiological studies, global public health, health systems research, and monitoring and evaluation. She has expertise in rapid assessment methods, including Lot Quality Assurance Sampling (LQAS) and Respondent Driven Sampling, as well as spatial statistics, disease mapping, and health economics. Since 2010 she serves as expert in Biostatistics for the Monitoring and Evaluation Technical assistance and Research (METRe) group. During 2021-2022 as part of RESPOND AFRICA, she conducted statistical and health economic analyses for projects in Tanzania and Uganda focusing on integration of non-communicable diseases care with HIV care. In January 2023, she joined the Department of Clinical Infection, Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Liverpool, where she provides statistical support to the Centre for Global Vaccine Research.
She completed a PhD in Biostatistics at Harvard University, an MA in Mathematics at Boston College, and a Maîtrise in Applied Mathematics and Social Sciences at Paris IX Dauphine University.
Research interests
Her research interests include biostatistics, monitoring and evaluation, health systems research, vaccine epidemiology, health economics and spatial epidemiology. Her methodological work explores spatial statistical approaches for public health, particularly combining routinely collected health data with probability survey data, disease mapping and the impact of spatial data precision on analytical performance.
