Biography
Joy Gilroy is a Programme Administrator & Communications Officer at Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM), supporting The LIGHT Consortium β a UK-aid-funded initiative transforming gendered pathways to tuberculosis care in Kenya, Uganda, Malawi, and Nigeria.
Since 2018, Joy has played a vital role in coordinating large-scale, multi-country research projects. She thrives on problem-solving, managing logistics, and fostering collaboration between international partners, funders, and research teams, ensuring projects run efficiently and deliver impact.
Beyond administration, Joy leads on communications and advocacy for LIGHT. She translates complex research into accessible content, enhances the consortiumβs visibility, and engages stakeholders to drive gender-responsive health solutions. Her expertise ensures that vital research reaches the right audiences.
Before moving into global health research, Joy built a successful career in the travel industry, developing expertise in marketing, stakeholder engagement, and customer relations. She held key roles such as Sales & Marketing Coordinator for Emirates Airline in London and Travel Account Manager for a global corporate travel management company. Her BA (Hons) in Humanities from the University of Hertfordshire, combined with her diverse experience, equips her to navigate international partnerships and craft impactful communication messaging in global health.
