Our fully online DTM&H combines more than 120 years of LSTM expertise in tropical medicine with flexible online study, allowing health professionals to learn from wherever they are based without relocating or stepping away from their existing commitments.
During this 30-minute information session, you will hear from course Co-Directors Dr Sylviane Defres and Rocio Villacorta Linaza, who will introduce the programme, explain what you will study and give you a clearer picture of what it is like to study the DTM&H online with LSTM.
What will I learn?
The Professional Diploma covers three core areas:
- Clinical tropical medicine, including maternal, newborn and child health
- Tropical disease biology, including parasitology, microbiology and vector biology
- Public health and disease control, including approaches to health challenges in low- and middle-income countries
You will explore the clinical presentation, diagnosis and management of major communicable, non-communicable and neglected diseases, while developing a broader understanding of the social, cultural and economic factors that affect health and disease control.
Who is the session for?
The session is particularly relevant to doctors who want to work in tropical and subtropical settings, health professionals who encounter imported infections, and clinicians who want to update or deepen their knowledge of infectious and tropical diseases.
The Professional Diploma is designed for doctors with a recognised medical degree and at least two yearsβ post-qualification clinical experience. Advanced Nurse Practitioners with relevant experience may also be eligible.
