Biography
Meenakshi Monga is a Research Assistant working with the GEAR up consortium and Urban TRACS team in the Department of International Public Health at Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM). With a background in global health, behaviour change communication and health systems strengthening, she has extensive experience designing, implementing, and evaluating health programs across various domains, including maternal and child health, nutrition, HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, health equity, climate change and disaster response in low- and middle-income countries high-income countries. Her interests include community engagement, capacity strengthening, and applying participatory research methods to advance health systems and empower communities. Meenakshi is passionate about fostering inclusive and equitable partnerships and contributing to knowledge exchange through teaching.
Research interests
Through her research Meenakshi seeks to bridge the gap between research and practice through multidisciplinary mixed methods and participatory approaches to foster community engagement and build sustainable capacity. Her research interests centre on the application of participatory methodologies to strengthen health systems and empower communities to advance health systems and communities for improved health outcomes.
Teaching
Meenakshi believes teaching is a powerful avenue for the exchange of knowledge, ideas and stimulating intellectual discourse. In the last three years, she has contributed to the academic development of undergraduate and postgraduate students at LSTM, the University of Liverpool, and the Indian Institute of Technology. Her teaching has encompassed a range of important subjects, including paediatric HIV and nutrition in humanitarian settings, the complexities of relief and accountability, the impact of social determinants of health, strategies for intervention compliance and addressing vaccine hesitancy, and the urgent issue of antimicrobial resistance and equity.
