Biography
Alain Kohl is Professor of Virology and Emerging Infectious Diseases. He joined Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) in 2023 from the Medical Research Council-University of Glasgow Centre for Virus Research, where he was Professor of Arbovirology and Medical Research Council Programme Leader.
He completed his doctoral studies in Microbiology at the Institut Pasteu and a Diploma in Biology at Westfaelische Wilhelms-Universitaet Muenster.
Research interests
Alainβs key interests in the lab are centred on arboviruses. Recently he has expanded interests into viruses of parasites and how they interact with these pathogenic organisms. He uses a range of approaches to study molecular virology and virus-cell interactions such as small ribonucleic acid responses and protein interactions.
