The work of the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine has never been more important.

Impacting Global Health

LSTM was the first institution in the world dedicated to tropical medicine research, producing many scientific firsts and leaders.

To meet the modern and evolving challenges of infectious and non-communicable diseases amidst the complexities of climate change and globalisation, LSTM beleives the solution is through researchinnovation and education.

Our Vision: Impacting health in the Global South for the benefit of humanity, worldwide.

Research at LSTM has never just meant working in a laboratory. We work in some of the most fragile health systems and challenging environments. What we learn in the field, we apply elsewhere, making our work as relevant in Merseyside as it is in Malawi.

We will start with a focus on Africa, where our most longstanding partnerships began.

We have three core aims:

  • Drive forward new innovations and solutions to major health challenges facing humanity.

  • Build scientific capacity and leadership in the Global South.

  • Train the future global health workforce.
