Background
After completing general and children's nurse training in Liverpool Hilary Simons worked on a children's high dependency unit. In 1983 she moved to primary care, working for many years as a practice nurse and later as an Immunisation Facilitator/Coordinator for a large health authority in the northwest of England. She was appointed as Specialist Nurse Advisor with the National Travel Health Network and Centre (NaTHNaC), UK in 2003, is based at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and divides her time between the Liverpool and London offices of NaTHNaC. Hilary Simons undertakes a diverse role which includes advising health care professionals on many aspects of travel health, writing and reviewing articles for publication, running travel health training seminars and developing and delivering the yellow fever education programme in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Teaching
Yellow fever training seminars as part of the NaTHNaC Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre Initiative. Other lectures and small group teaching nationally and within LSTM, including the Travel and Expedition Medicine Course.
