Dr Christos Petichakis

Senior Lecturer in Academic Development

Christos' early academic work was in Electrical Engineering and Electronics and his PhD investigated the use of Free Electron Lasers for industrial applications.

Since 2010, Christos has been involved in the development of research and academic staff in research intensive universities. He holds a PGCert in L&T HE (University of Liverpool, 2011) and an MBA in Higher Education Management (University of London, Institute of Education - IoE, 2014).

At LSTM Christos is leading on the fellowship recognition accredited programmes and he is Chair of the Quality Management Committee (QMC) which has oversight of academic quality assurance in the School's taught provision.

His research interests are in the areas of professional & situated learning, communities of practice and the application of pedagogic principles in research-led learning environments, including distance learning initiatives.

He has research supervision experience at Doctor of Education (EdD) and Master's levels.

Christos teachers in the Advance-HE accredited fellowship programmes (D1 to D3). He also teachers and supervises at Master's level on education related topics.

Christos has a series of External Examining appointments for Postgraduate Certificates in L&T in HE (PGCert/PGCAP) at D2 and CPD routes (D1 to D4).

He is also an Advance-HE accreditor and consultant. As of 2019 he is a Principal Fellow of the HEA.
